Abstract landscape for sale with fiery red and gold sunset over deep blue waters, inspired by both romantic beauty and global unrest. Acrylic and mixed media seascape symbolises hope and resilience amid political and environmental turmoil.
The story of The World is a Bin Fire
This painting began as something joyful—a celebration of an unforgettable romantic sunset Grace and I witnessed, when the sky was ablaze with colour and light. I wanted to capture that awe and beauty, a moment of pure wonder.
But as I worked, the world shifted. Trump unleashed “Tariff-mageddon,” shook the global economy, and became a permanent fixture on our screens—like Orwell’s Big Brother. The sky I painted no longer felt just marvellous; it felt more like a warning flare.
The fire in the sky transformed from beauty to destruction—a symbol of decency, truth, and moral clarity being scorched for selfish power. The water in the painting became a divide, a boundary between what is and what should be.
On the far shore, everything abroad seemed to be burning. The world I returned to after my Long Covid isolation was starkly different from the one I left in 2019.
What began as a tribute to a romantic moment became a symbolic landscape of our times—where beauty and dread coexist, where truth mingles with untruth, facts blend with fiction, and hope flickers just out of reach.
We all need to hold on to hope amid the uncertainty of these trying times and remember that we're all in it together.
